NOPCOTE C-104 is a liquid, 50% solids calcium stearate dispersion for use in starch, protein or latex coatings. It improves the application of coating and imparts a superior finish to coated paper. Among its outstanding features are its economy and case of use. By lubricating the coating, NOPCOTE C-104 improves flow and levelling characteristics, making possible smooth, even application. It also plasticises the dry coating and improves its printabildy, gloss and smoothness. Like all NOPCOTE calcium stearate dispersions, NOPCOTE C-104 has a small average particae size to provide mayimum dispersion stability. It also gives low residue levels on a 325 mesh screen. NOPCOTE C-104 prevents dusting at the supercalenders and during slitting and printing operations, resulting in higher operating speeds In certain
grades of paper, superealendering can be omitted, since
NOPCOTE C-104
gives a high finish with machine calenders alone. |

APPLICATION
NOPCOTE C-104 is normally used at a level of 0.5 - 1.5 % on the weight of the dry solids in the coating. Being a mobile liquid, no predispersion is necessary. It may be mixed directly with the coating colour at any convenient point in the make-down of the colour. When starch is the adhesive, however, it should not be added until the starch has been cooked. NOPCOTE C-104 dispersion is stable in the presence of alkalis and dilute acid solutions. It should not be subjected to strong acid solutions, since decomposition of the calcium stearate will result.. |
